10.6°C on friday, city's cold spell to last a week

Chilly winds persisted in the city on Friday as the minimum temperature recorded at the Santacruz weather station was 10.6 degrees Celsius, which was 6 degrees below normal.

A day after the city witnessed the coldest day of the season so far with the minimum temperature dipping to 8.8 degrees Celsius, officials at the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Colaba, said it would take four to five days for the temperature to come back to normal.

On Friday, the maximum temperature recorded in the suburbs was of 28 degrees Celsius. In the island city, the minimum temperature was 15.2 degree Celsius and the maximum temperature was 29 degree Celsius.

"The minimum temperature will rise to 14-15 degrees Celsius in four to five days," said VK Rajeev, director, western region, IMD.
