The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) is likely to question Taquee Ahmed, the brother of Naquee, who has been arrested in the 13/7 blasts case.
“The questioning is likely to take place either this week or the next,” an ATS official said. Taquee was to be questioned last week but, he was unwell and also could not get a train ticket from Delhi to Mumbai. The ATS will be issuing fresh summons to Taquee to appear before the ATS in Mumbai.
Naquee was earlier arrested in connection with a fake SIM card case and was later booked in the 13/7 blasts case. A staff member at the small shop that Naquee and Taquee ran in Madanpura has been arrested in the SIM card case. ATS officials said the brothers ran a shop that sold SIM cards and the two, along with some agents, had sold the SIM cards allegedly used in the 13/7 blasts.
According to the ATS, Naquee’s role was far bigger than just selling SIM cards to the Indian Mujahideen (IM) involved in the 13/7 blasts case. “Taquee’s role needs to be investigated,” an ATS official said.
