15 who burst crackers during Ganpati held

Fifteen people were arrested on Sunday for bursting crackers during a Ganpati immersion procession without obtaining prior permission from the police.

The accused were booked on charges of rioting and deterring a public servant from performing his duty. The incident took place around 10.30pm on Friday night on Mithagar road in the Mhatre Nagar area of Mulund (East).

A Ganpati procession was stopped by constable Babulal More from the Navghar police station for bursting crackers without permission.

Senior inspector S Ghule said: "When we told them that they could not go ahead, they started misbehaving with the police."
