17-yr-old boy falls off train rooftop near chembur, dies

A 17-year-old boy, who was travelling on the rooftop of a train, lost balance and fell off near Chembur station on Wednesday. Government railway police (GRP) officials said that Sainath Khavle, who was rushed to Sion hospital, was declared on arrival.

A 17-year-old boy, who was travelling on the rooftop of a train, lost balance and fell off near Chembur station on Wednesday. Government railway police (GRP) officials said that Sainath Khavle, who was rushed to Sion hospital, was declared on arrival.

GRP officials said that the incident took place around 1.15pm. Khavle, a resident of Shramjeevi Nagar in Chembur, was travelling on the rooftop of a local train with his friends when he lost balance and fell while trying to perform stunts, the officials said.

They added that Khavle had failed his secondary school certificate (SSC) exams.

Khavle fell off the local train on the up line near Chembur station and landed in a drain, injuring himself grievously.

The GRP officials, who were informed of the incident by Khavle's friends, reached the spot and he was rushed to the hospital soon after.

The Wadala GRP said that they have registered a case of accidental death in connection with the incident.
