Sabyasachi Nishank and Sagar Kumar, both in their early twenties, did not stop after ramming into traffic constable Dinesh Avhad. Nishank is the son of a deputy general manager of Byculla branch of RBI.
The police sources said Nishank, a student of Dadar catering college, was driving when the accident occurred.
“The car was intercepted during a nakabandi on Wednesday night by Juhu police officials,” said Assistant Police inspector Vilas More. Vasant Bhandari, an employee of a private company, was driving the car. He told the police that the car belonged to his friend Nishank. The police also learnt that it was the same car that had rammed into the traffic constable at Santacruz.
After his arrest, Nishank told the police that he did not know that car was stolen and that he had bought it for Rs 22 lakh.
