5 Sena workers held for theft, released

Five Shiv Sena workers, including the brother of Sena MP Sanjay Raut, were arrested on Monday in connection with a 2008 case of theft and house break-in after the Bombay High court rapped the police for not initiating any action in the matter.

The five accused were later released on a personal bond of Rs 10,000 on the same day.

Rajkumar Wakale, senior inspector at Kanjurmarg police station, said, “The case dates back to 2008 when the five accused, Sunil Raut, Ramesh Gavkar, Atul Keluskar, Jitendra Joshi and Manish Redkar had barged into an office of the Gavit Fishermen Association which was under renovation in Bhandup.”

He added that the accused broken open the office door and ransacked it.

The president of the association, Sakaram Maladkar, had filed the case.
