52-year-old cyclist run over by bus in Malad

A 52-year-old cyclist died after being run over by a BEST bus on Monday night at Marve Road in Malad (West). According to the police, the incident took place around 10 pm.

A 52-year-old cyclist died after being run over by a BEST bus on Monday night at Marve Road in Malad (West). According to the police, the incident took place around 10 pm.

Hosla Prasad Singh, 52,a resident at Ganesh Nagar in Kandivli (West) was on his way back home from his office at Somwar Bazaar in Malad.

Manoj Mahadik, 28, driver of BEST bus route no 272 that was heading to Malad station, was speeding and did not notice Singh riding his bicycle next to the vehicle.

The bus hit Singh causing him to fall off. He came under the rear wheel of the bus and was crushed to death.

Locals who witnessed the accident started to pelt stones at the bus, due to which several windows of the vehicle were shattered.

Singh was taken to Bhagwati Hospital where he was declared dead before admission.

After basic treatment, Mahadik was arrested under section 304 (A), 279 and 338 of the IPC.

“Mahadik was taken into remand for investigation on Tuesday noon. Once the charge sheet is finally submitted, he will be produced in the court,” said senior inspector Rajaram Prabhu
at Malad police station.

Singh is survived by his wife and children.
