The victim, S Salvi, has been admitted to the ICU and is in a serious condition, police said. The accused, Nilesh Haldankar, 40, was arrested on Friday and charged with attempt to murder. Police said Haldankar attacked her because he thought she enco-uraged his wife to divorce him.

“Haldankar, armed with weapons, barged into her Lokmanya Nagar residence and attacked her with a knife,” said Dhananjay Kulkarni, DCP, zone 5. The victim, who was bleeding profusely, was taken to the hospital by neighbours.
