The 10 galleries are calling this the Art 4 Sunday initiative, an attempt to draw people to these establishments and foster a greater interest in art, particularly in light of the diminished post-recession art market.

Also on the cards is a cross-promotional campaign with restaurants in the areas. “It would be a win-win situation for us and the restaurants,” said Usha Mirchandani, owner of Gallerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke. “Plus, their involvement might push foodies who have never visited a gallery to drop by.”

Sree Goswami, owner of Project 88, said: “We are hoping the initiative will benefit art enthusiasts as well as galleries.”
