According to the police, Siddiqui was a part of the conspiracy where Salem is alleged to have ordered Jain’s killing after a tiff with him over a piece of land owned by Jain’s family in Andheri.
Special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said, “The main charges against Riyaz Siddiqui are murder, breach of trust, sections of TADA amongst others.”
Siddiqui was arrested by the ATS in December 2005 in connection with Jain’s murder. In 2006, he had moved an application in TADA court to become an approver in the case. Accordingly, the TADA court had made him and another accused Naeem Khan an approver.
Siddiqui in his statement had said that he was present at the conspiracy meetings called by Salem and Anees Ibrahim, brother of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in Dubai and also narrated the entire Jain murder plot.
