A little before the Vidarbha Express (train number 2105) was about to pull out of platform 18 at 7.10 pm, the passengers had to be evacuated.
The reason: A call had warned of a bomb placed on the train. The call, however, turned out to be a hoax.
“We received a call from an anonymous caller saying two passengers carrying explosives had boarded the train,” said Dilip Mane, senior inspector of Government Railway Police.
All passengers were evacuated and teams of Bomb Disposal and Detection Squad, Anti-Terrorism Squad and Dog Squad searched the train. Nothing suspicious was found, he said.
The train left about an hour and half after its scheduled departure time.
President Pratibha Patil’s son, Member of Legislative Assembly Rajendra Shekhawat was among the passengers on board the train.
