Boy killed in Mumbai road accident

A seven-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a speeding city public transport bus at Gold spot junction in suburban Andheri, police said on Monday.

A seven-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a speeding city public transport bus at Gold spot junction in suburban Andheri, police said on Monday.

The deceased identified as Sona Chavan, accompanied by his father, was walking along the Western Express Highway
late Sunday evening when the BEST bus, which lost its control, hit the boy, injuring him seriously.

The wheels of the bus ran over the boy, police said adding that he was taken to nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.

The driver identified as Shankar Mahadik was arrested on charges of causing death to a person due to reckless driving,
police said, adding that further investigations were on.
