Angre eloped with a minor girl in April and they got married last month after she turned major.

While hearing a habeas corpus (produce person in court) petition by the girl’s father, Pradeep Mete, the high court asked the police to find about the people who had stood as surety for Angre while he was granted bail in earlier 18 cases.

A division bench of Justice A.M. Khanwilkar and Justice U.D. Salvi rapped the police on Tuesday as they have been unable to trace Angre.

Additional public prosecutor F.R. Shaikh informed the court that the girl was not co-operating with the investigation and Angre’s phone was not reachable.

Justice Khanwilkar remarked: “You can track the person’s location with the help of mobile phone operator. Do you need us to tell you this?”

“We have filed applications in the lower court seeking cancellation of Angre’s bail,” said Shaikh.

The girl escaped from her parents’ home on April 19 while they were at the high court for a hearing of the case.
