The fire brigade immediately reached the five-star hotel and the fire was doused in five minutes.

No casualties have been reported, a fire brigade official said, on condition of anonymity, as he is not authorised to talk to the media.

However, some cosmetics and towels at the salon were damaged, the official added.

According to the fire brigade officials, they got a call from the hotel staff around 12.30pm. Three fire brigade engines were sent to the spot immediately and the fire was doused within minutes.

Some of the wires at the salon had caught fire, however, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, another fire brigade officer said, requesting anonymity.

A statement issued by the Taj Land’s End hotel stated, “There was a minor fire in the spa section at the Taj Lands End today [Thursday], which caused some smoke in the lobby area.

The staff immediately doused the fire but as a precaution the fire brigade was called for. All guests were requested to clear the lobby area. Our staff and all the guests are safe and there has been no damage to property. Activities are back to normal at Taj Land’s End.”
