Chavan to go abroad to study civic systems

Chief Minister Ashok Chavan is scheduled to leave for the United States on Saturday to study the infrastructure and the transport system.

Chief Minister Ashok Chavan is scheduled to leave for the United States on Saturday to study the infrastructure and the transport system.

A high-level team of senior officials will accompany him during the tour aimed at understanding civic planning, low cost housing, development of airports and speedy transportation, an official release said.

Chavan will also visit Singapore and Malaysia. In the US, the officials will visit the Mineta Transport Institute in Los Angeles to study the transport system.

In Singapore, the team will study desalianation plants and water management processes and in Malaysia, the team will study the light Rail Transit and Monorail Systems.
