Arpita Ghoshal, 6, will not stuff her pink backpack with an iPod, soft toys and drawing book when she goes on vacation next week. The Class 1 student has discarded her constant travel companions after watching a detailed presentation of the four-day trip to Singapore on her father Manash's laptop. A jungle safari, an American circus and countless hours at different gaming parlours are some of the attractions that have fascinated Arpita.

This summer, many city parents like Manash are planning their vacations solely based on what the destination has to offer their kids.

“I have lost count of my holidays to Singapore, but it is the best place to take my daughter,” said Manash, a multinational employee.

City-based tour operators say this year, bookings are more about the kids. “Fami-lies prefer destinations like Malaysia, Singapore as they have the most child-friendly attractions,” said Tina Kan-uga from Bhatija Travels.
