Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan will be elected unopposed to the Legislative Council.
Apart from Chavan, no other candidate entered the fray.
The deadline for filing nomination for by-election to a seat on Legislative Council ended on Saturday evening. principal secretary of State Legislature Anant Kalse said Chavan was the only candidate. A formal announcement of his election would be made after scrutiny of his application.
The opposition Shiv Sena and BJP decided not to put up candidate opposite Chavan, who had to get elected to either house of the legislature within six months after swearing in as chief minister.
