Chavan told the Assembly on Monday that the Cabinet had not taken any decision regarding taxing IPL games. However, the state’s portal www.maharashtra.gov.in has published a list of decisions taken by the Cabinet on January 20. One of them was the decision to tax IPL matches.
This was circulated to journalists for publication on the same day. Hindustan Times, like other newspapers, published it in the next day’s edition. Chavan, however, denied that any such decision was taken.
While replying to a debate on the governor’s speech, Chavan said there was no question of withdrawing a decision that had not been taken in the first place.
