As part of the country-wide initiative of exposing the Modi government on the occasion of the second anniversary, former Union minister of state and Congress leader Sachin Pilot addressed a press conference at the Congress office at Nariman Point on Wednesday.

He said that the government should have utilised the money, spent on publicity, to mitigate the drought in Maharashtra, which saw 3,228 suicides last year.

“In the run of the Lok Sabha elections, Modi had announced to bring black money back in the country and deposit Rs15 lakh in the account of the each of the citizen, his government had also assured to generate two crore jobs every year, but two years on only 1.37 lakh jobs have been generated. The number of stalled projects has gone up to 893 from 766 during Congress rule, while the farmers are still waiting for the rise in the minimum support price to their produce… The Modi government has failed on all these front,” said Pilot.

Citing the instance of Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh, land scam in Rajasthan, controversies related to the ministers in Maharashtra, Pilot said that the Modi, who had been claiming constantly talking against the corruption has speaking nothing against the corruption under his nose.

“I am surprised why chief minister and home minister Devendra Fadnavis is silent about the controversy related to revenue minister Eknath Khadse and his allegations about the phone calls from underworld don,” he asked. He also alleged that it is the power hunger, which has been deterring Shiv Sena from snapping ties with BJP despite differences.
