State Congress president Manikrao Thakre made this observation when asked by the non-government organisation Swabhiman, headed by Nitesh Rane.

“We will ask such parallel organisations to stop their activity if we find they are doing it against the party policy,” Thakre said on Tuesday.

Swabhiman is spearheading campaign against corruption in the Shiv Sena-led BMC. Nitesh is accused of not involving the party leadership in his activities.

“We’re fighting water mafia and corruption in BMC. We’re not affecting any party’s vote bank,” Swabhiman functionary said, requesting anonymity.
