The seminar on Mumbai's church history on Sunday, open to people of all faiths, was the AHC's first foray into educating the public on the importance of heritage conservation. It now plans to hold seminars regularly, focusing on all kinds of heritage structures across the city.

"At the moment we are conscious of the fact that we are losing our heritage in the name of modernity," said Fr Larry Pereira, who spoke about the arrival of Christianity in Mumbai and the various church ruins in the city that need to be preserved.

In October, the AHC plans to organise a field trip to Chaul Fort, a site 20 km from Alibaug where a number of church ruins from the Portuguese era lie.
