A minor welding job on a container at a Panvel warehouse went terribly wrong when it exploded killing two persons and injuring as many.
A minor welding job on a container at a Panvel warehouse went terribly wrong when it exploded killing two persons and injuring as many.
The incident took place at around 6.30pm on Wednesday at Kon village along the Panvel-Rasayani road.
“During the welding operation, the solid material present inside the container turned into gas, which led to the blast,” said deputy commissioner of police Pramodrao Shevale. Ahmad Javed, commissioner of police, Navi Mumbai confirmed the casualties. “We are investigating the matter further to find out if there was any negligence,” he added.
The deceased have been identified as Madhukar Gharat and Farooq Ahmed. The injured persons were identified as Manoj Sharma and Siddiqui.
