Inspector Sanjiv Mehta, Railway Protection Force, said, “There have been nine incidents of robbery on long distance trains on Central Railway last year, so we formed a special team comprising an inspector and 10 constables. After studying their modus operandi for two months, last week, our team travelled on the Varanasi Express. On Wednesday morning, at Igatpuri station, our team found the person offering tea to fellow passengers and immediately took him into custody. He confessed under questioning.

Yadav told the police that he was involved in three cases earlier and had been arrested in 2008 at Kurla railway police station.

The police said currently they have arrested one accused, but will soon arrest the gang of six.
