The social service branch of the Mumbai police raided four commercial establishments on Friday night, rounding up the managers and owners for violating rules.
At around 9:30pm on Friday, a team of police personnel raided a bar in Kandivli (East) and arrested 24 people.
“Fourteen bar girls were allowed to go, according to relevant section of the code of criminal procedure (CRPC). They have been instructed to report to Samta Nagar police station. Cash worth Rs 38, 630 has been seized,” said Pravin Patil, district commissioner of police, (DCP), enforcement.
In another raid, 16 people were arrested from an illegal gambling club in Borivli (West). “We have arrested 12 players, two jockeys, the owner and another person. Cash worth Rs 1, 23,740 has been seized from the spot,” Patil added.
Three people were arrested from a bar in Borivli (West) late on Friday night, where an illegal dance performance was being conducted. A case has been registered with the Borivli police, who are on the lookout for the owner.
The police also raised a pub in a prominent mall in central Mumbai, and action was taken against the manager for flouting rules.
As many as 10 people were arrested by the Dongri police for consuming alcohol at a public place without permission.
