The city may have seen the back of senior cop Vasant Dhoble, but that hasn’t stopped the Mumbai police from playing party-poopers.

In a repeat of the now-infamous Dhoble raids, teams of the Social Service Branch (SSB) raided Blue Frog, a popular nightspot at Lower Parel, and Twist Lounge at Juhu on Friday night for overcrowding and lack of permissions.

The teams raided the clubs at around 1.15am. However, no arrests were made, nor were fines imposed on either of the club owners, said police officials.

Blue Frog, police officials said, did not have requisite permission to play ‘orchestra’, and was overcrowded, which violates a 1960 rule that permits only 166 persons per 1,000 square feet in a restaurant.

Twist was emptied as it allegedly allowed smoking within its premises, and was overcrowded.

Also, the licencee of the club was not present, said police officials.

BG Shekhar, deputy commissioner of police (enforcement), said, “No arrests were made. No fines were imposed. We have asked NM Joshi Marg police to investigate the Blue Frog case. Necessary action will be decided by the court in due course.”
