A senior official of the crime branch said they were tapping police informers and also questioning the arrested accused to get more information. The official added that the video footage they had collected did not have any recording of the women constables being molested. However, in cases of molestation, the complaint of the victim is sufficient to arrest the accused.

The crime branch has already formed two squads comprising two women police officers and women constables, which are currently recording the statements of the women officers who were allegedly molested.

According to officials, several of the policewomen had also suffered injuries (fracture and sharp injuries) during the violence. So far the police have arrested 51 accused in the case, all of them were involved either in the attack or were involved in torching of police and media vans. One of the accused also was arrested for stealing a police self-loading rifle (SLR).
