Leaving no stone unturned in wooing voters, corporators have released a report card to showcase the work undertaken by them in their respective wards over the last five years, in their respective wards.
Explaining the dual purpose of the report card, NCP corporator Mangesh Bansod said: “Apart from informing voters about the work done in our wards, the party leadership also gets a fair idea about our competence, which could be helpful in getting a ticket for the next term,” said.
The report card contains a list of civic work undertaken in the ward, such as renovation of gardens, road widening, laying of new pipelines and construction of toilets. It also has information about social activities organised such as opening of libraries, temple renovations, sports events and health camps.
Along with photographs of the corporator and party leaders, those of corporators’ family have also been published. With 50% wards reserved for women in the upcoming polls, many corporators are seeking a ticket for their wife or children, if they are ineligible to contest from the ward.
Corporators said the report card was published because the party manifesto does not highlight individual performances. “I have published it so that people can decide if they want to vote for me and make an informed choice,” said Bhalchandra Shirsat, BJP corporator and improvement committee chairman.
Not all citizens, however, are impressed. “Voters are not unaware. I am not going to believe everything my corporator claims to have done,” said Ghatkopar resident Harsh Mehta.
