On September 12, a Panvel jeweller Madanlal Chaplot told the police that two men had come to his shop to purchase Rs 4 lakh worth of jewellery.
The police found Parag Parab (30) and Kunal Mistry (27) at the shop.
“Three cards were found on Parag and eight on Kunal,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Ankush Shinde.
“The men revealed that the credit cards were fake. They said they had used them on September 8 at Manish Jewellers of New Panvel to buy Rs 89,000 worth of gold jewellery,” Shinde added.
Senior inspector Suresh Bhosale said, “We arrested their Nigerian accomplice Olagia Lolamayuv (35). He confessed he had used the cards to commit fraud in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane.”
