Prashant Pal, the owner of the cyber cafe, said, “As I opened the shop at 8.30am on Wednesday, I found that some files near the payment counter were shuffled, while some of them were on the floor. On rushing to the training room, I found that 11 computers and the laptop at the payment counter were missing. I, then, informed my brother-in-law Mahesh Kudtarkar, a co-owner of the store. We lost goods worth at least Rs5.5 lakh.”

Pal found that in addition to the computers, some computer hardware kept in the store too was missing. A case has been registered at Mahim police station.

Police inspector V Kulkarni said, “We have registered a case of theft against unidentified accused. We have taken the fingerprints in the shop which should help us in catching the accused.” Pal added, “A milkman from our area told us that around 4.30am, on Thursday, he saw the shutter of our cyber cafe half-open with the lights on. According to him, the stolen computers must have been carried in a tempo parked outside the cyber cafe.”
