The police said the fire brigade had to be called to clean the road and a big crane had to be brought in from Vikhroli to clear the road, which was being blocked by the two buses. It took the traffic police more than an hour to clear the congestion.
Pandurang More, inspector of Mulund traffic police station, said: “The hippo cranes were brought in from Vikholi traffic police station for clearing the road. It took around 30 minutes for the cranes to shift the buses and the fire officials to clear the oil spill.”
Manisha Raokhande, inspector of Navghar police station, said: “The road narrows as it goes over Nahur station, but the rest of the road is wide. This narrow stretch leads to chaos when there is heavy traffic anyway and the spot is vulnerable to such incidents.”
