The goof-up occurred because the Mumbai University's examination department said they had not received a report from the college about the number of students appearing for the exam at the centre.

"The college is supposed to send a report on its requirement for questions papers before the exams. But the examination section is saying that they did not receive the report while the college is saying they have sent it," said Vilas Shinde, controller of examinations.

Also, a first-year law student was caught with chits during his exam at GLC on Thursday. The students answer sheet was taken away and he was punished.
