Passengers aboard a Jet Airways flight to Hyderabad were stranded in the aircraft for about three hours on Friday making it the fifth such case of delay in the last 10 days.

Airport sources said the flight scheduled to leave at 6.50 pm was delayed initially because the crew was waiting for a passenger who was arriving in a JetLite flight that got delayed.

When the flight reached, the co-pilot’s permitted duty time had expired. Therefore they had to look for an alternative crew. J Ram, a passenger on board said, “Nobody is telling us the cause of delay.” Sources added that some departures in the evening were running two hours behind the schedule because of air congestion.

The MIAL spokesperson said, “There was fog in Delhi in the morning which resulted in cascading delays throught the day. Two Delhi-bound flights were diverted to Mumbai.”

Jet spokesperson said, “The hold up was due to bad weather at Delhi airpor. The 6.50pm flight was delayed but it was ready for take-off 8.15pm but some passengers refused to board the aircraft, which resulted in further delay.”
