“A low pressure area that formed over the Bay of Bengal is progressing towards the west through Chhattisgarh. The city can only expect moderate intermittent showers in the next 48 hours,” said NY Apte, director deputy-general, IMD, western region.

Private weather forecasting company Skymet blamed the low pressure over the Bay of Bengal for the dry weekend.

“It pulled the monsoon winds away from the west coast and that led to a dry patch over the weekend,” said Mahesh Palawat, meteorologist, Skymet.

On Sunday, the city witnessed less than 1 mm rain.
