Initial investigations by the police have revealed that he was murdered between Tuesday and Wednesday evening.

Bannerjee lived alone in his flat and was working with L&T for the last one year.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Zone I) Purushottam Karad said: “We received a complaint from Nanak Kesvani (52), a local estate agent about some problem in the flat. When we went to investigate, we found Bannerjee dead. His throat was slit by a chopper.”

“We are on the lookout for the unidentified assailants. We have recovered a vital clue from the crime scene and will catch the culprits soon,” added Karad.
