Heavy rainfall was witnessed in parts of the city on Friday evening.
According to the weather department, the downpour was a result of thunderstorms and the city is expected to experience similar thundershowers over the next two days.

From 7pm to 9pm, the city received an average rainfall of 16.83 mm.
With 26.5mm, the island city recorded the highest rainfall, followed by western suburbs at 15 mm and eastern suburbs at 9mm. While Parel recorded 25mm, Dadar received 24mm of rainfall.

“An upper air cyclonic circulation continues to prevail over the west coast. It is influencing the current monsoon system leading to formation of thunderstorms. Although it is not too hot, the high humidity levels are contributing to cloud formation,” said VK Rajeev, director, India Meteorological Department (IMD), western region.

“The withdrawal of monsoon is yet to begin. Widespread and heavy rainfall in north Konkan area is aiding the monsoon in the city,” he added.
Since October 1, Colaba has recorded 60.1mm of rainfall while Santacruz has recorded 86.2mm of rainfall.
On Friday, the maximum temperature in Colaba was 29.5 degree Celsius and minimum temperature was 25.2 degree Celsius.

At Santacruz, the maximum temperature was 30.8 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature was 24.8 degree Celsius.

The humidity at Colaba was 86% and 79% at Santacruz.

According to the weather department, the city will receive one or two spells of rain or thundershowers on Saturday.
The maximum temperature in Colaba will be 31 degree Celsius while minimum will be 24 degree Celsius.
