According to the officials, the scam is worth more than Rs 21 crore.
On January 15, the officials intercepted eight containers of calcium carbonate though the bills showed that it was sodium iodine.
During investigations, the officials recovered 225 such shipping bills of 19 firms dated between March 2009 and January 2010.
The officials claimed that Singh claimed a duty drawback of Rs 1.84 crore while Rs 1.20 crore more was awaited.
The officials sought Singh’s custody saying that they wanted to further investigate the scam.
However, Singh’s lawyer Ravi Hirani argued that the unit has already recovered the containers and bills and “nothing is more to be recovered” from the accused. Singh was remanded to judicial custody until August 27.
