An airport spokesperson said that despite steady showers, the runway visibility was better on Monday compared to Sunday. On Sunday, the visibility had dropped below 450 metres causing two city-bound flights to abort landing at the last minute.

However, air traffic between Mumbai and Kochi was affected after a Gulf airplane skidded off the runway at Kochi airport soon after landing on Monday morning. The incident caused 10-hour closure of the Kochi airport. As a result, four Kochi-bound flights from the city and two flights scheduled to arrive in the city were cancelled. The spokesperson added that flights from Goa were also delayed by around 25 minutes owing to bad weather in the tourist city.
