Four of Pune family killed in accident on Expressway
Four persons, including two children, were killed in an accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Sunday as the family of five was travelling to Borivli to celebrate Raksha Bandhan.

The Baldavas of Pune were in a Toyota Corolla, which rammed into the divider on a bridge near Lodhivali village before falling off the bridge.

The deceased were identified as Shakuntala Baldava, 63, her son Sunil Baldava, 33, and Sunil’s children Ruchit, 8, and Girish, 3. Sunil’s wife Aarti, 31, survived the accident with minor injuries as she was thrown out of the car.
“Sunil was driving the car, when he lost control and collided with the divider. The car, which was travelling at high speed, landed on the other side and fell off the bridge into the water body around 25 feet below,” said IS Patil, senior inspector, Khalapur police. The victims were pulled out of the water by villagers and rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were declared dead before admission.
