According to the police, they have got the CCTV footage of the accident, but the registration number of the car is not clear.

The victim Rajmati Jain, who suffered severe head injuries, is currently admitted in the Bombay hospital and is unconscious.

The incident took place around 6am on December 8, when Jain was on her way to buy milk.

The housewife was crossing the road when a speeding Innova crashed into her. Owing to impact, Jain was thrown around 15 feet ahead. The car driver then went over her, dragging her ahead for a few feet.

The locals then rushed her to a nearby hospital. An auto driver, who was behind the car, managed to note down the registration number that he gave to the watchman of a nearby mall, a police officer said.

However, the number turned out to be incorrect, the police said. The incident was captured on the CCTV camera installed outside the mall.

“We were trying to find out more eyewitnesses of the incident,” said Sunil Vadke, senior inspector at Goregaon police station.

Another officer from the investigating team said they were checking the number with different combinations. “As of now, we have found two cars. One of them is an Innova, but the owner is saying he did not use his car on December 8,” he added.
