Several people wanted to know of alternatives to autos and taxis on the day of the boycott.
“One call was from a differently-abled woman from Napean Sea Road, who was brave enough to ask us for bus routes,” said ICRPC president Arun Saxena, who spent the entire day responding to SMS messages with his colleagues.
“I suggested she go to the Meter Jam website and join in a carpool.” The organisation also received a call from a senior citizen from Versova, who
traveled to hospital for dialysis by bus instead of an autorickshaw.
“If a small NGO like ours can set up a helpline service of this sort, why can’t the BEST do the same for commuters who need help?” Saxena asked.
