The graduating batch of students pursuing a masters degree in design have put together an exhibition of their creations, which was inaugurated on Tuesday. Cellphone applications seemed to be the most popular. “Students have opted to work on cellphones because they are the fastest emerging modes of communication and networking,” said Aditi Kulkarni, a participant.

The applications aimed at bringing mobile phones to the masses with Devnagari fonts. Experimenting with speech translators in mobile phones, students attempted to break language barriers. When a person says something in a language, the software will register that sentence, and convert it to the language chosen by the user.
