Inebriated man drowns in drum kept at home
A 46-year-old man committed suicide by drowning himself in a 300-litre drum filled with water located inside his house in Malwani late on Friday.
A 46-year-old man committed suicide by drowning himself in a 300-litre drum filled with water located inside his house in Malwani late on Friday.
According to the Malwani police, Balaraj Venkatesh was a resident of plot number 69 near gate number 7 of Malwani in Malad (West).
Venkatesh, who was inebriated on Friday night, had a tiff with his wife. After a heated argument, the couple and their 21-year-old son went to sleep.
On Saturday morning, Venkatesh's son started searching for him when he could not find his father on the bed. After searching for around an hour and realising that since the main door of the house was locked from inside, he checked the drum and found his father lying in the water. He removed Venkatesh and informed the neighbours who alerted the police.
Venkatesh was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead before admission.
