The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday, when the victim was returning to his residence from a bar.

According to the police, the victim Rajendra Pal Singh, a resident of Kandivli, left a Dahisar-based bar for his residence around 1am and waited on the check naka road for a vehicle.

Around 1.30am, a rickshaw with three persons apart from the driver, offered to drop Singh home to which he agreed.

“After getting Singh aboard, the three accused halted the rickshaw at a lonely spot near check naka and thrashed him.

They then fled from the spot in the rickshaw, with his cash and valuables collectively worth Rs2 lakh,” said Jaywant Mane, senior inspector of Dahisar police station.

Since Singh was intoxicated, he could not give a proper description of the three accused, said the police.

“Based on what little description he has given us, we will prepare sketches of the accused,” added Mane.

The police suspect that even the rickshaw driver could have conspired with the three accused to carry out the robbery.

The police have registered a case of assault and robbery against the three persons.
