On April 2, two unidentified men assaulted Duggar on his head with an iron rod, outside an under-construction school building near Premier road, Ghatkopar. Duggar’s three-year-old son was recently admitted to the school and its construction was to be completed by May.

“I had gone there to check on progress on the construction. That’s when the two men hit me from the back, and I fell unconscious,” Duggar said. The men fled with Duggar’s bag containing jewellery worth Rs 24 lakh. His relatives say he is traumatised.

Police suspect the accused may have followed him to the site. Their records say Duggar visited six jewellery shops, before reaching the site. “We are yet to make a breakthrough,” said Police Inspector S Tambe.
