Jewellery worth Rs 4.15 lakh stolen

A jewellery shop at Vile Parle (East) was broken into on Monday and gold and silver ornaments worth around Rs 4.15 lakh, were stolen. The Vile Parle police on Monday registered a case of break-in and theft against an unidentified person.

The incident took place in the early hours of Monday when the unidentified person broke into Sai Jewellers, located on Shradhanand Road.

The complainant, Rajesh Soni, 35, found the lock on the shutter broken and the shop ransacked. He then lodged a police complaint. Soni is the brother of the shop owner.

According to the police, the involvement of an insider cannot be ruled out. “We are recording the statements of all employees,” said senior inspector Narayan Patil.
