Both Parkar and Kazi were granted extension of four weeks by the apex court. While the deadline for Parkar ended on Thursday, Kazi had to surrender before the court on Friday. However, their advocate Farhana Shah moved separate applications before the Tada court seeking more time to surrender on medical grounds.

For Kazi, Shah pleaded that she had undergone an operation for cancer recently and needed to undergo certain tests before she surrendered. “She is scheduled to go for tests on Saturday and will surrender before the court on Monday,” Shah said, adding that Kazi is also not well.

While arguing for Parkar, Shah said that he was in the hospital and had been advised to undergo angioplasty.

Special public prosecutor Deepak Salve, however, objected and sought for non-bailable warrants against them.

The court refused to entertain the pleas and ordered issuing of non-bailable warrants against the two convicts.

According to the prosecution, Parkar had played a role in organising the landing of arms and RDX in Raigad district at the instance of Tiger Memon. He had also arranged a conspiracy meeting in Raigad.

Kazi was convicted for allowing the co-accused to keep weapons in her house. The arms were later taken away from her house by other accused.
