The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, along with community groups Sai Dutta Mitra Mandal and Ideal Entertain-ment, held an awareness rally from Shivaji Park to Goregaon.
Environment secretary Valsa Singh Nair flagged off the rally.
Marathi theatre and film industry such as Sukanya Kulkarni, Vijay Kadam and Neha Gadre participated in the rally. "I hope youngsters help create a culture of noise-free dahi handi," said Maneesha Soman, coordinator, Ideal Entertainment.
