The legislators — Shiv Sena’s Vinod Ghosalkar, Pratap Sarnaik, Eknath Shinde, Vijay Shivtare Ravindra Waikar and BJP’s Girish Mahajan, Sardar Tara Singh, Vijay Deshmukh, Harish Pimpale — were punished on March 24 for disturbing finance minister Ajit Pawar when he made his budget speech.

Following the suspension, the Opposition demanded revocation of the punitive action and demanded that the state made equitable allocation of funds to all legislators.

Repeated negotiations between the ruling and Opposition parties failed on Thursday, Friday and Monday. However, Tuesday’s meeting proved fruitful.
