A division bench of justice AP Lavande and justice Arun Chaudhari called Dattu Mengu Shende a “monster”.
The incident took place over a year ago. Shende, the complainant’s neighbour, took the child to his house and sexually assaulted her, which led to bleeding from her private parts.
The victim’s mother filed a police complaint after she found blood on her dress and her undergarments missing.
Shende claimed he had removed her undergarment because the girl had urinated in it. He said one of his nails had accidentally caused injury in her private parts. However, medical tests confirmed rape.
Chaudhari said, “The appellant [Shinde] didn’t think that the child was like his daughter and would suffer immense pain. He doesn’t deserves any leniency or sympathy.”
