After arresting him from Buldhana in Maharashtra, the police found that Shyam Gajanan Bahekar had been divorced three months ago and had created a fake profile posing as a woman to 'scout' for women. Senior inspector of Cyber Crime Investigation Cell (CCIC) Mukund Pawar said, "We have arrested Bahekar."
Police said, in April, Bahekar came across the profile of the victim and decided to pursue her. He even created a fake profile in the name of one of her friends and got her phone number, called her and started pestering her.
He kept calling her several times a day and insisted she befriend him. When she refused to do so, he threatened to defame her, Pawar said. When she refused to answer his calls, he got angry and decided to take revenge, posting obscene content online.
